The spread of Buddhism in China.
Buddhism is a religion that arose from Asia and spread to other parts of the world including China in the first century. It was a belief by Buddhist Monks and Central Asian traders. In China, Buddhism gave the ancient citizens a sense of belonging that was more relative to their livelihood from the experiences that they were facing at the time. However, the introduction and spread of Buddhism in China took time as it needed translation which was done by Taoist, the scholars. These scholars interpreted the doctrines of Buddhism in a more “Chinese” like manner thus facilitating its fast spread and adoption among Chinese.
According to Englehart (6), Buddhism conceptualized most of the Chinese culture including religion, arts, philosophy, architecture, behavioral norms among others. This helped the Chinese in adapting to the significance of the religion. People had to put up sacred buildings where they would worship, a practice that related to Buddhism belief to demonstrate its acceptance to the society. Buddhist monasteries built by the government also aided in the spread of the religion across China.
The doctrines held by Buddhism integrated all classes in the society from the literate to the peasants. During ‘The Han Dynasty,’ the war and problems made people feel they had no solutions but Buddhism gave people a reason and hope to live. This made Chinese people plead and pray for peace and ethics in the society as per the doctrines of Buddhism leading to its integration into China (Ou 1).

In conclusion, Buddhism in China was a revolution that changed the lives of many. Its acceptance in the society was as a result of the social and economic lifestyle that changed with the people. Its integration into China was largely aided by the will of the government and dynasties to promote its doctrines among the people.
