ADDICTION AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE ESPECIALLY WITH PRESCRIPTION DRUGS
The most viable healthcare associations for my research topic include the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) and the American Public Health Association (APHA). These associations carry out of health care advocacy to better the health of the medically underserved and support community health centers in America. They work with other primary care associations, public and private sector healthcare organizations in expanding health care access to vulnerable populations including addicts. Together with other activities, the associations carry out research, both independently and in partnership with other groups, geared towards advancing community healthcare.
The research presented at the two conferences revolves around the use of community health volunteers and workers in dealing with cases of addiction and substance abuse with prescription drugs among ex-offenders and community members. The research seeks to elevate the role of the community in using its available resources to deal with cases of drug and substance addiction. The American Public Health Association (APHA) will organize for an Annual Conference bringing onboard various professionals to debate issues on health care policy and emerging issues in the use of prescription drugs. The theme of the conference will be “Creating the Healthiest Nation: Health Equity Now” (APHA, n.

The conferences would be effective for my research because they bring together the right audience for this research including public health professionals as well as medical experts from all places in the country. The formats for the presentation include panel discussions and verbal presentations. There would also be eight detailed preconference seminars and various concurrent sessions where presentations will be conducted. Experts will be sharing their expertise, discuss the main challenges to community cases along drug addiction issues and develop possible solutions to these challenges. Thus, this galaxy of professionals and experts would give their input on my research and recommend areas that need modification.
