Admission Essay
“What is the One Thing that you think sets you apart from Other Candidates Applying to the University of California?”
I am sure that my sporting skills and leadership components I have will set me apart from other candidates while applying to the University of California. I have shown excellent leadership skills in different areas in our class and outside classroom activities, such as sports and voluntary work. The leadership personalities I have would promote my consideration on the decision board because, through the interest in directing people in different aspects of the university, I would join college sports club and embellish the public image and reputation of the university with much victory and success in my contests. The leadership skills I have would allow me to establish a robust student association or organization with a mutual objective towards the attainment of academic excellence within the university grounds. What is more, I possess an exceptional personality that distinguishes me from other candidates to join the University of California. I recognize the basic life beliefs and values of self-respect and honor to people’s rights together with their privileges. I am driven by the urge to follow my best attempts despite the difficulties and challenges I may encounter as a student of the University of California. Furthermore, I respect the cultural diversities of the learners and all the community members of the University of California as it is what enables the institution my first choice and unique.

Appreciating the cultural diversities of every stakeholder in the whole university fraternity will also allow me to work together with everyone with whom I will interact. The ability to understand the varied cultures of every person in the University is a distinction because not everyone, including the students and candidates, can do this. As a result, the understanding will also set me apart from other applicants.
On the other hand, my greatest talent is adaptability. It seemed somewhat hard for me to move from Russia and adapt to the American life and the system of education. However, took me a short time to get used to the system and life because I adapted quickly. Also, my greatest skills are the decision-making, ability to speak in public, and being social. Concerning the public speaking ability, I was used very frequent as a public speaker on various social occasions by the school back in the high school periods in Russia. It assisted me in becoming confident in communicating with other individuals. I encountered a barrier when I came to America since I could not speak fluent English as I did Russian. Nevertheless, I participated in several clubs when I came to the United States and my fellows helped a lot with building confidence in speaking English. Subsequently, I can easily communicate with the students and instructors, and I can speak in public confidently and fluently. Ultimately, through being social, I made many friends when I came here. I am a person who finds it quick and easy to develop friendships with the people I meet. I understand the significance of making connections with individuals in a particular setting. Making links with others is both interesting and important. I get to know persons of varied cultures and countries better to the extent that it assist me in the future. It is a beneficial to get the experience of knowing other people’s cultures and origins.
