There are various ways through which desensitization is used in the media. Desensitization is used from the perspective of violence perpetrated against slaves being viewed as having been normal and acceptable (Krahé et al., 2011). The media is also used to create a normal view of violence against women, especially if they appear to go contrary to the social norms (Fanti et al., 2009) such as in prostitution.
