Americans are Having Less Sex than before
Question 1
The most valid reason for the decline in the frequency of sex among Americans is the increasing necessity to have a two-income family. Indeed, one of the responses given in the article shows that fatigue is the most cause of deteriorating sex life ADDIN CSL_CITATION { “citationItems” : [ { “id” : “ITEM-1”, “itemData” : { “DOI” : “10.1007/s10508-017-0953-1”, “ISBN” : “1050801709”, “ISSN” : “00040002”, “PMID” : “28265779”, “abstract” : “American adults had sex about nine fewer times per year in the early 2010s compared to the late 1990s in data from the nationally representative General Social Survey, N = 26,620, 1989u20132014. This was partially due to the higher per-centage of unpartnered individuals, who have sex less fre-quently on average. Sexual frequency declined among the partnered (married or living together) but stayed steady among the unpartnered, reducing the marital/partnered advantage for sexual frequency. Declines in sexual frequency were similar across gender, race, region, educational level, and work status and were largest among those in their 50s, those with school-age children, and those who did not watch pornography. In analyses separating the effects of age, time period, and cohort, the decline was primarily due to birth cohort (year of birth, also known as generation). With age and time period controlled, those born in the 1930s (Silent generation) had sex the most often, whereas those born in the 1990s (Millennials and iGen) had sex the least often.

Wait! Americans are Having Less Sex than Before paper is just an example!

The decline was not linked to longer working hours or increased pornography use. Age had a strong effect on sexual frequency: Americans in their 20s had sex an average of about 80 times per year, compared to about 20 times per year for those in their 60s. The results suggest that Amer-icans are having sex less frequently due to two primary factors: An increasing number of individuals without a steady or mar-ital partner and a decline in sexual frequency among those with partners.”, “author” : [ { “dropping-particle” : “”, “family” : “Twenge”, “given” : “Jean M.”, “non-dropping-particle” : “”, “parse-names” : false, “suffix” : “” }, { “dropping-particle” : “”, “family” : “Sherman”, “given” : “Ryne A.”, “non-dropping-particle” : “”, “parse-names” : false, “suffix” : “” }, { “dropping-particle” : “”, “family” : “Wells”, “given” : “Brooke E.”, “non-dropping-particle” : “”, “parse-names” : false, “suffix” : “” } ], “container-title” : “Archives of Sexual Behavior”, “id” : “ITEM-1”, “issue” : “8”, “issued” : { “date-parts” : [ [ “2017”, “11”, “6” ] ] }, “page” : “2389-2401”, “title” : “Declines in Sexual Frequency among American Adults, 1989u20132014”, “type” : “article-journal”, “volume” : “46” }, “uris” : [ “http://www.mendeley.com/documents/?uuid=a6c04baa-ce5e-33eb-9f04-e76fea3b17fc” ] } ], “mendeley” : { “formattedCitation” : “(Twenge et al.)”, “plainTextFormattedCitation” : “(Twenge et al.)”, “previouslyFormattedCitation” : “(Twenge et al.)” }, “properties” : { }, “schema” : “https://github.com/citation-style-language/schema/raw/master/csl-citation.json” }( Bahrampour n.p). The lifestyles of most Americans have been characterized by both men and women working to create a two-way income ADDIN CSL_CITATION { “citationItems” : [ { “id” : “ITEM-1”, “itemData” : { “DOI” : “10.1007/s10508-017-0953-1”, “ISBN” : “1050801709”, “ISSN” : “00040002”, “PMID” : “28265779”, “abstract” : “American adults had sex about nine fewer times per year in the early 2010s compared to the late 1990s in data from the nationally representative General Social Survey, N = 26,620, 1989u20132014. Consequently, the minds of people have become preoccupied with the issues of the workplace rather than a physical connection between couples. In fact, Schwartz stated that what people need for a proper sex life is energy, time, and being in the right mood. Evidently, having both the couples working will mean that they will return in the house fatigued and will have no time for sex. Therefore, the increasing necessity of two-income family among the Americans is the most valid reason for the decline in sex frequency.
Question 2
The decline in the Americans sex life is worrying. One of the advantages of getting married is to have more sex than the non-married ADDIN CSL_CITATION { “citationItems” : [ { “id” : “ITEM-1”, “itemData” : { “DOI” : “10.1007/s10508-017-0953-1”, “ISBN” : “1050801709”, “ISSN” : “00040002”, “PMID” : “28265779”, “abstract” : “American adults had sex about nine fewer times per year in the early 2010s compared to the late 1990s in data from the nationally representative General Social Survey, N = 26,620, 1989u20132014. Moreover, the sexual frequency is related to satisfaction in marriage. Apparently, a decline in the frequency of sex in marriage implies having couples who are less satisfied and less happy as well. Thus, the declining trend in sex frequency is a worrying issue.
Question 3
Bereavement and sadness could be another reason for fewer people having sex. For example, if a man loses a wife or a woman loses a husband, unhappiness will be developed. Also, the one who has lost the spouse will have no one to have sex with. Therefore, being widowed can be an additional reason for the decline in sex frequency among the Americans.
