Humans grow gradually over a period and ultimately mature, empowering people to undertake more roles in the society. The changes are physical and psychological, enhancing a person’s thought and physical capabilities. Adolescence occurs during teenage years between puberty and the age of the majority. The changes are demonstrated through biological, cultural, physiological and psychological advances. The changes prepare children for adult roles, paving the way for teenagers to take up their rightful roles in the society. Coincidentally, the changes occur during transitional periods as the teens graduate from being students to being workers or entrepreneurs (Shaffer and Katherine 11). The changes help teenagers to transit into adulthood smoothly. The attainment of the age of the majority enables one to marry, consume alcohol, get a driver’s license, vote in national elections, undertaking legal sexual relations and participating in creating legal contracts. Parents lessen their rules after adolescence and allow their offspring more freedom unlike during their teen years. Moreover, after maturity, the person is mandated to decide upon divorce of their parent, whom to stay with, contrary to younger minors. Adolescence leads to the adjustments of the brain, height, sex organs and weight. The changes enable a person to think discretely and increase their knowledge while being more sociable unlike in the past. The changes are gradual and take place during a person’s teenage years.

Stages of Adolescence
Individuals undergo three typical stages of adolescence. The stages are manifested through different characteristics and body changes as one matures over time. Scientists believe the stages are critical in ensuring the child receives adequate care, as it is the most important stage of a person’s life.
Early Adolescence
The stage occurs between the ages of 10-14 years in boys and girls. Girls develop breasts, become more private and prefer to self-engage in private. Moreover, the changes force most children to be moody most of the times, while seeking the attention of their parents. However, in some instances, children may be rude while attempting to be loved by other people other than their parents. Some boys develop deep voices and a burgeoning chest that further illustrates their manhood. The period is very confusing for teenagers and without proper advice and guidance, the children may engage in illicit sex with drastic results.
Middle Adolescence
Doctors believe the period is the most confusing for any teen. Teens under the stage are likely to be more concerned about their appearance, confused about taking individual decisions and clamouring for more independence (Benjet, Guilherme and Maria 738). Furthermore, the teens are involved in more peer group activities than before. The stage primarily occurs to teens between the ages of fifteen and sixteen years. Research indicates that the children are likely to be stressed about performing better in school and choosing good career choices to enhance their future lives. Interestingly, males grow at a faster rate than females during the stage. Moreover, the minors develop an identity and regularly identify to particular groups of thought.
Late Adolescence
The stage uncovers the abilities and personality of the person. The person can be self-reliant and proud of their achievements. Moreover, during the stage, the person can develop better social skills, make decisions intelligently and articulate their thoughts in prose. The stage occurs to individuals between 17-21 years. Boys continue to grow though girls are primarily developed at the time. The persons develop life priorities and are more anxious about life than before. However, millennials are said to prefer carefree lives upon reaching the stage, decreasing the confidence in the teens to use their talents to be productive in the long-run. The stage leads one to maturity.
Adolescence Problems
The changes in adolescents result in problems in the society. Teachers and parents have a critical role to play in advising and guiding children (Trentacosta and Sarah 15). However, in some instances teens have lost their lives or injured after engaging in uncouth behaviour during their adolescence.
Drunk Driving
Driving while under the control of liquor has led to the death of thousands of teens across the globe. Australia, USA, and Canada record more than 10,000 deaths annually of teens driving under the influence of alcohol. The nations have advised teachers to institute guidance classes customized to advise students on appropriate living lifestyles. However, the carefree culture adopted in the society and being stressed of their uncertain futures forces the students to engage in dangerous behvaiours to escape from their troubles.
Sexual Immorality
Sexual immorality has been on the rise especially due to the proliferation of the internet worldwide. Analysts believe that teens risk contracting venereal diseases from their immoral behaviour. Furthermore, more teens have got pregnant in the past three years in the USA than in any other period. The federal government is concerned the parent’s burden increases after their children get pregnant; reducing the household’s purchasing power. Churches have also weighed in on the subject by introducing seminars for teens to discourage the teens from engaging in early sexual intercourse. However, researchers have indicated that empowering children through guidance and motivation during the stages is likely to change their attitude towards life. Conclusively, the stage acts as a critical transitional stage for each person.
