The article, “Facebook acquires biometric ID verification startup confirm.io” discusses the impact that technology on Facebook. The author says that Facebook had acquired a confirm io. technology which helps in identifying a person’s government-issued identification card such as the driving license. The technology has raised approximately $4 million from the investors such as Cava capital since it was launched in 2015 (Constine). Companies can be able to obtain data from an ID card. They can facially recognize a person and confirm their identity before specific personal data is deleted. The author claims that the technology has been used by other companies such as Doordash and Notarize. Doordash used the technology to confirm its drivers while Notarize applied it to identify those clients who wanted to file their documents.
The launcher of the technology claimed that Facebook would help them accomplish their mission of being the most trusted identity origination platform. The author argues that the technology would help Facebook confirm the identity of their clients if their accounts are locked out or hacked. Moreover, customers who lose the password can use the technology to recover it. Facebook had tried many ways of identifying its clients (Constine). For example, since 2013 Facebook requires people to send a copy of their photo ID or other relevant verification documents before regaining access to their locked out accounts.

Confirm. Io would be a better option because it is more secure and faster to use. Furthermore, the author says that people could use Facebook in future as an ID rather than carry the physical ID. Additionally, the technology would help prevent third parties from accessing the Facebook account of an individual. In conclusion, the author stresses the advantages of confirming io. technology and how it would help Facebook serve their customers better.
