Article Summary
This article is about the divorce of Stephen and Lucy, most of the divorces happen before third of January. This is the day when most divorce lawyers are busy attending their clients. Most of the couples hold things together over the festive season. The article is about the family of Stephen Armstrong and Lucy Cavendish divorce. This couple has two daughters. Just like any other couple, Lucy and Stephen thought that they would raise their children together, but now they have already drifted away from each other.
Divorce is a process that may affect the behavior and welfare of the children. Therefore is important to seek help from an expert. Lucy and Stephen agreed to book an appointment with children psychologist to discuss the effects of divorce on their children. They have since concluded that the best way is to be friends and raise their children together. But when the paperwork began it almost ruined everything they had agreed on.
Their divorce lawyers have started splitting their household income; they are working out on what to give to whom. This will help everyone to live a life that is close to what it had been. After signing the property papers, Stephen thinks the process of divorce is over, that he is finally divorced but this not the case. The final step is done in court but the judge has to hear why the marriage is breaking up. According to English law, marriages break down for five different reasons; living separately for two years when the couple is consenting, living separately for 5 years requiring one partner to consent, adultery, unreasonable behavior and matrimonial offenses (Singer and Linda, 79).

The couple jointly owned a house, but Stephen and Lucy needed a consent order to sell the house. But they could not get the consent order without blame unless they are living apart for two years, which was really difficult. All the other reasons did not apply so they settled for unreasonable behavior as a reason for their divorce.
