After visiting the Memorial West Neuro unit, we realized that most nurses lack sufficient knowledge and awareness about sexual misconduct. Most nurses claimed that they have never been victims of sexual misconduct, but they have encountered patients who were victims of the vice. However, a substantial number of nurses did not have a concrete idea regarding how they would address the situation while some admitted that they were ignorant about the issue of sexual misconduct. As a group, we felt the need to educate the nurses about sexual misconduct and the necessary measures to consider when handling a victim of sexual misconduct. We used PowerPoint presentations to inform the nurses, and the experience was exceptional. The presentation delved on signs, consequences, and prevention of sexual misconduct.
During the presentations, each group member was an active participant. Each member was assigned a section that they were supposed to present, but this did not limit other members from making their contributions. We gave the nurses an opportunity to ask questions on issues which they thought were unclear. The presentation was efficient because the nurses applauded our commitment to enlighten them. Based on the feedback we got from the nurses, we can conclude that the performance was successful in relaying the intended message to nurses. The nurses were friendly, and this reinstated the need for nurses to build rapport and develop a good relationship with patients.

The nurses were happy and even requested us to come back whenever we have any informative content that may be of value to their profession. They also vowed to share the knowledge with patients in a bid to mitigate and prevent sexual misconduct in the society. In a nutshell, the experience was phenomenal because the exercise and the presentation were fruitful. In the end, I felt that I had met my civic responsibility after successfully educating nurses about sexual misconduct.
