When the cells swell, it is severe and may lead to cell rupture which is mostly an irreversible change. Cells are primarily composed of molecules which are negatively charged; thus they need cations so that they can counter the charge balance. This will result in a substantial osmotic gradient, hence enabling the sodium ion to be pumped outside the cell. Sodium-potassium pump function by pumping three sodium ions out and two potassium ions into the cell at the same time. When this pumping stops, sodium ions will accumulate inside of the cell. To have an understanding of how cells swell, we must put into consideration the forces which operate inside the cell and how the fluid volume is managed inside the cell (Lecture notes n. pag). The ions which are composed in the cell and the concentration of protein in the interior of the cell differs significantly with the concentration level of the eternal of the cell. Non-diffusible protein and intracellular will pull water by itself. For this oncotic force to be balanced, the cell should unceasingly pump the sodium ions put through energy-dependent sodium potassium and adenosine triphosphate phase pump which is located in the plasma membrane. This would enable water to diffuse passively outside the cell, because of the sodium concentration gradient.
Hence, for the condition which we have been given: where the blood clot interrupts the blood flow in the brain. There will be no blood perfusion in this part of the brain, thus there will be no oxygen and energy to fuel sodium and potassium pump through those cell in the brain.

Wait! based on my ouestion paper is just an example!

This will cause the blood cell to swell or even burst because of failure of this kind of pump.
