Until he met a young man named Augustus Waters who taught him that life is not empty and that despite his illness in life was not all lost.
Ha Hazel was diagnosed with depression for the cancer in his lungs. She told everyone: "Depression is a collateral effect of dying". Depression is a psychological illness and that leads to create an unhappiness to the person for certain problems. We must remember that no matter how big the problems are all these have a solution. We must know how to face them even though we fall we have to know how to get up and trust ourselves to face them day by day. And know how to eliminate depression based on happiness.
Due to Hazel’s disease, his parents had to make the decision to leave the studies, as a consequence of this she moved away from many people and her social circle decreased a lot, becoming only her parents and her doctor who were withshe. They explained that in the support groups there are also people with the same disease and almost of the same age of it, that one of the most common symptoms of depression is to give up their activities and refuse the possibility of relating to more peoplethat understand their situation. His mother insists that she is no longer a girl and that she should not hide in her room but that she was already a young woman and that she had to face the hard reality she is playing. Because of that Hazel decided to go to the meeting of the support group, and the dialogue that most caught the attention of the book is when Patrick, who is the group director asked Augustus to share his fears, "I fear him for oblivion"He replied, within the group Hazel only replies "when all of us are dead". Explaining that the time will come when no one will exist or that our species will no longer exist and there will be no one to remember everything we do and that will be forgotten. Augustus does not respond only take a cigar and place it between his teeth and Hazel bothered him, so he tells him that he is just a metaphor. "He will not kill you unless he turns it on," but he never lit it, in this way they began to know each other more about their life and despite everything that could have been against their diseases, they began a relationship. Being sick, they could enjoy their days together, managing to fulfill some of their dreams, since they had the motivation to be happy despite the time they could live that love that was born between them, since that day of the group’s meeting. Until one day Augustus died remaining with all the love and living memories.
We can understand that we all have the opportunity to choose to be happy with whom we want and as we want, we must also understand that each person has a different way to solve or face the problems of diseases etc. the circumstances to which life exposes us and that we must have the will to decide to be happy, since happiness is formed by living day to day and with our social circle that make us happy and understand us listen to us. Respecting since all people see differently the meaning of happiness. Just live the day as if it were the last.
