Tuesdays with Morrie by M. AlbomTuesdays with Morrie by M. Albom, listed as a memoir, a biographic fiction as well as a philosophical fiction. The author recounts the moments spent together with his Sociology Professor, Morrie Schwartz at Brandeis University, who was 78-years old and passed-on as a result of ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). The initial chapters of the book incorporate part of the ambiguous start of a conversation between the professor and Albom. Also, the sections talk of a short flashback on the author’s graduation and a set of events that happened when Albom reunited with his professor. The author, inspired by the fourteen Tuesdays he met with his professor, his life experiences, flashbacks as well as allusions resulting from contemporary events.
The first quote that demonstrates essential idea from the book is “accept what you can do and what you are not able to do” (Albom 18). The quote is significant to this initial part of the text as it expresses the emotions Morrie is going through and despite all that, he encourages Mitch to move on irrespective of what happens in life. The quote also essential to the whole text as it teaches the readers the art of acceptance in life instead of blaming our situations or what others makes us feel.
Another quote is “…I know what a misery being young can be, so don’t tell me it’s so great” (Albom 117). This quote at the middle part of the text significantly expresses the Professor’s point of view on the miseries youths go through in life and his advice on how to manage such situations.

Also, the quote is necessary for the whole text as it educates the youths and encourages them to handle every situation wisely.
At the ending section of the text, the author says, “forgive yourself before you die. Then forgive others” (Albom 164). The quote is essential in this ending part of the text as it prepares the readers for the ending of the story. Furthermore, the quote is relevant in the whole text as it supports the theme of forgiveness and since we need to forgive ourselves for our own mistakes and also what other people make us go through.
