Causes of conflict between America and Great Britain that led to the War of 1812

The war of 1812 majorly involved the United States and the Great Britain. The conflict arose from the fact that America needed to expand its territory and trade restriction imposed by Great Britain against the US. Americans believed their rights were being violated which necessitated them to attack Britain. The paper seeks to focus on the specific reasons that contributed to the war of 1812 between the United States and Great Britain.
The conflict between the Great Britain and the United States was as a result of persistent bitterness and rivalry between the Great Britain with France’s Napoleon Bonaparte. Great Britain made efforts to prevent France from trading with the United States. To achieve this, it intended to cut off the supplies of ammunition and logistical support from entering France (Heidler and Heidler 183). Since this action of the Britain would lead to an adverse impact on the American economy, America was ready to fight for their right to engage with France, this stimulated the 1812 war.
Britain had a long-term goal of creating a settlement for American Indians by acquiring land in the Northwest states; this would further cause a conflict between the two nations. Indian raids strived to block America dominance in the Northwest states Wisconsin, Ohio, and Michigan. British Military offered them support by supported countering America expansion (Nester 59). Similarly, the land hunger in the Northwest America played a pivotal role in facilitating the conflict between Great Britain and the United States.

Canada being Britain’s colony received maximum protection and support from the Great Britain. The British believed that the Americans had plans to annex part of Canada due to their rigorous expansion in the Northwest Territory (Beyer 4). British military confronted the US forces in the Northwest of the country in an effort to protect the Indians and its colony as well. As a result of the Britain to protect Canada and the Indians, the America did not take it lightly, thereby aggravating the 1812 war.
Inclusion, the intention of the Britain to prevent the trade between America and France, led to conflict between the two nations. Also, the support that the British offered to the Indian to enable them to establish a settlement in the Northern States angered the America as this reduced their dominance in the said State. Finally, Britain offered maximum protection to Canada and India Americans; this prevented the American expansion, thereby aggravating the conflict between the two nations.
