There has been an increased use of technological aspects both in the regional and the national security conferences, and this is bound to increase due to development of new technologies. Recent technical modifications have seen various improvement in communication and reporting of cases. For example, the introduction of wireless communication technologies has enabled to snap pictures of given situations send them via e-mails (Curtis 223). Furthermore, aspects like GPS whose usage was restricted for government security organs are nowadays free to use, which has seen the introduction of various related elements such as Vehicle tracking (Curtis 224). It is an improvement to security.
Technology has seen the introduction of various applications. Some of them Include CCTVs, which are used for deterring crime, and catching criminals through camera monitoring. On the other hand, biometric products fall into this category and are becoming widely adopted due to their efficiency and other benefits (Curtis 224). Unmanned surveillance aircraft is also a technological trend and application for surveillance and sometimes for attacks. Other technical applications include Explosive detectors and robots.

According to the book, there have been increasing concerns related to the aspect of access and retrieval of information accessed on the Databanks (Curtis 226). There have been growing debates, associated with the same. Many have a feeling that creation of the databanks might lead to the violation of information security, privacy rights and freedoms, and the aspect of reviewing of incorrectly presented information.
