Child Abuse and Adult Survivors
Introduction
Sexual crimes continue to be a major problem in the current society, despite the existence of advanced technology. Most reported sexual assault crimes affect adolescent children. Despite the efforts put in place, there are still crime instances that are regularly reported. Therefore, it is essential to explore child abuse about sexual offense, how it affects adolescents, and how the situation can be controlled.
Summary
The article highlights the plight of young girls who suffer as victims of sexual abuse. The victims are as young as twelve years old of age with some being abused individually, while others suffer the ordeal of multiple sexual harassments. The authors indicate that out of all the victims of sexual assault, 66% of them are children. Sexual assault affects both boys and girls, with girls accounting for the largest number of victims of up to 40% while only 13% of boys are affected (Mustaine et al. 39). Therefore, it is apparent that a large number of children is affected by the sexual acts, and there is a wide discrepancy between boys and girls affected.
The affected sexually abused children come from diverse backgrounds of socioeconomic, demographic, and even cultural settings. The study shows that more adolescent girls are likely to face sexual assault and face victimization as compared to the teenage boys. The characteristics of the communities and their social disorganization are found to contribute mainly to the prevalence of sexual assault on teenage girls and boys.

Wait! Child abuse and adult survivors paper is just an example!

This is according to social disorganization theory which lays its primary focus on things to do with a social and economic disadvantage, the unity of the community or other factors of stability that relate to creation disorder, and crime within a given community set up. Even though the research reveals that factors of social disorganization contribute to the maltreatment of the children, there are no scholarly findings that link the social disorganization to child sexual assault directly. It is also postulated that among the other factors that contribute to increased rates of child sexual abuse is the presence of the sexual offenders within the society. The offenders perpetrate these social crimes, and secondly, there is consideration of the gender circumstances where the looking into the status of the women such as instability can be used to predict the frequencies of the cases of sexual abuse.
Relationship between the Article and the Textbook
The textbook discusses issues that are similar in plot and theme to the article. For instance, Karmen talks about victimology which is a term used by the homicide squad when they are collecting different pieces of evidence from the crime scene which is still a crime like the sexual assault crime (14). Both learning materials talk about social crimes which involve murder and sexual assault. As a result, in both circumstances these are crimes that are carried out repeatedly and the police can collect data and information of different cases at different times to help them to find out the aggressors of the criminal gangs. The use of victimology in trying to study the ways used by the criminals to give insights in the future in case of similar crimes is the same way the data concerning sexual assault is collected to figure out the trends in this crimes.
Analysis of the Article from my Point of View
Sexual assault is a criminal act, and it deserves severe punishment. It is inhuman to commit sexual assault on young adolescent girls and boys given the amount of trauma that it causes to them. Apparently, there are contributing factors towards these crimes such as the presence of the sexual offenders with the society. I find it wrong to even have these criminals walking freely, and committing these crimes repeatedly. It is important that measures are put in place to curb the occurrence of these crimes such as the electronic data systems that keep track of the offenders so that they be arrested again if they repeat the same crime. There should be increased detection and arrest of the offenders. The offenders should be arrested and held responsible for the crimes such that it will be embarrassing to them. This will deter them from trying to repeat these criminal activities. The data collected by the state agencies on the child sexual assaults should be used to map out regions with the notorious criminals. Again, there should be severe punishment for parents who are irresponsible to take care of their children since some of these children suffer due to parental neglect which leaves them to be victims of the aggressors. Finally, the most crucial question raised in the article for future study entails how technology can be used to identify and mitigate instances of multiple victim child sexual abuse in the community.
Conclusion
In conclusion, sexual offenses have not yet found the best solution to eliminate them. The criminals are still within the society committing the crime repeatedly. Unfortunately, the most affected victims, in this case, are the young girls and partly boys. There needs to be advanced technology that can be used to map out the notorious where such crimes are committed to narrow down on the criminals.
