In Ecuador, the State guarantees the well -being of childhood and equal rights without any discrimination within what constitutes: health, education, food, among others, with the purpose of decreasing or allevising poverty, it also intends to distribute equitably resources the resources;On the other hand, childhood protection and care is also protected by the Code of Children and Adolescents and the Good Living Development Plan.
The State through MIES focuses mainly on child integral development and its work is "to guarantee the integral development of early childhood as regards infants from 0 to 36 months of age". Integral child development is considered as related and aimed at guaranteeing good physical, cognitive and emotional growth of children, all this within a healthy environment at a family, educational and social level.
MIES provides services such as: early stimulation, food, care and hygiene, preventive health, families’ parenting guidelines, is also the entity responsible for serving children who belong to homes in poverty offer two types of modalities:
- Child Development Centers (CDI) that serve children from 12 to 36 months, in regard to health, nutrition, pedagogy, that is, comprehensive care.
- Growing with our children (CNH) or family care service that serve children from 0 to 36 months, through home visits through training or counseling of mothers in communities.

Among the integral child development objectives is to combat malnutrition in girls and boys under 3 years of age providing good food and balancing the daily intakes considering their individuality and the age group to which they belong, all this in coordination with the Ministry of HealthPublic;In addition, determined programs are promoted to execute the control and monitoring of adequate growth and in good health.
Comprehensive care is also co -responsibility on the one hand of father and mother since they are the main protagonists in creating good food and hygiene practices, that is, families have the right and obligation to attend medical controls in order to guarantee the integral development ofyour boys and girls.
In conclusion, the State through its agencies such as MIES and MSP must guarantee the integral development of children throughout the country, however, despite the public policies generated to improve child care and reduce malnutrition stillMissing to sensitize families more in order to raise awareness of eating habits and hygiene.
