The lecturer emphasized on the need to have good negotiation skills in any business. For instance, negotiation in business assist build better relationships, delivers quality and lasting solutions and helps avoid future conflicts or problems. He also discussed the essentials of negotiation skills (Rushing, 2018). Parties in a negotiation must have the skills to analyze a problem to determine the interests of each party. The parties should then prepare a meeting where they discuss their goals. Moreover, the parties should have the skills to listen actively and also have the ability to control their emotions. Also, factors such as communication, power dynamics, and aggressive behavior can hinder a negotiation. Features of negotiation include two parties, determined objectives, expecting a result and parties willing to adjust their positions. The discussion about negotiation skills is important because it helps individuals have a mutual agreement on a particular issue.
Furthermore, the instructor discussed the school rules and regulations regarding learning environment policy, attendance policy, withdrawals, incompletes and the issue of makeups and late work. All students are supposed to provide support to the university to enhance the effective learning environment. The instructor emphasized that all behaviors that derail the learning process in the university are prohibited. Furthermore, he claimed that factors such as background noises might affect the learning environment of the online courses.

The instructor also advised students to always attend all class sessions because it influences one’s grade. Attendance of class sessions can help a student improve their performance (Rushing, 2018). Students who do not attend classes may be given an incomplete grade. Thus, it is the duty of the learner to engage the instructor to ensure their marks are entered into the school’s system. A student who wishes to withdraw from a course is expected to fill a withdrawal form to notify the academic advisor of their intention. Additionally, make-ups and late work are not scored. Thus, if a student expects a situation that may interrupt with his studies, they should inform the instructor before the deadline for assignment submission. These guidelines guide me on how to conduct myself while at school.
