Community Organizations
Community agencies play a crucial role in supporting patients with cancer. Most of them have adequate screening services which organize and create awareness on the need for early treatments and regular checkup. Local, governmental and non-governmental agencies have shaped the image of the healthcare across our community.
The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) has different survivorship programs for cancer. It supports the patients diagnosed at both early and late stages (McCabe et al., 631). It provides reliable treatment options where the patients can identify with the right form of treatment. Besides, it offers appropriate platforms where the patients can communicate and interact with the caregivers thus building a supportive relationship between caregivers and patients.
The American Cancer Society (ACS) offers free services for cancer detection and counseling services. It organizes different forms of campaign programs to reach remote communities. It partners with other organizations. It has been able to reach many patients and address the diverse problems faced by cancer patients. The agency, therefore, introduces and recommends different forms of treatment for the patients seeking treatment for the first time.
Cancer Support Community (CSC) is a non-profit organization providing awareness and support to cancer patients. It also provides counseling services aimed at addressing mental health issues. Education on cancer is also provided through the agency.
