Abstract
This essay is a summary of a project we undertook in the community, how it was organized, and an evaluation of what was learned during community service, application of Franciscan values and how course concepts of teamwork were applied. Forms were issued out and filled by three girls voluntarily to participate in Community service at Stritch. The initiative is to help feed the homeless and the hungry in the community area. Free advertisements were made to show the community of the objectives of the project and show them they are valued. The project was steered by Franciscan values that emphasize on the importance of treating other persons with kindness, courtesy and respect despite their situation in life. The Franciscan values were used in the community service by demonstrating acts of kindness to the hungry and homeless. The project was essential in teaching the group was organized a Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless to initiate the project and try reach out to as many people as possible.
Community Service Project
The three participants joined the group by filling out a community service project reporting form to register themselves online to participate in community service. The purpose of the project was to help those who do not have adequate food on a regular basis. The community inspired each one of us to look more into a person’s heart, state of mind, his or her passion, motivation and willingness to do succeed despite life’s circumstances.

It also taught us to treat people who are at their lowest points in life with respect, dignity and self-worth and to connect with each other in sharing our ideas and be a part of a worthy cause in the community.
Franciscan values were incorporated in the community service by demonstration, acting in love, and respect to the dignity of the other person no matter their situation, offering hospitality, unselfishness to individuals, courtesy, kindness and developing friendships with a hope to foster loving relationships that people will continue to spread love to other people. (Goodwin, 2016). The concept of team work was emphasized when were organized in groups to work together in the project. Classroom assignments were especially important in helping us understand the values the University upholds. (Goodwin, 2016). This process helped us to discuss and communicate and discuss with each other.
In conclusion, we put up a Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless which lined up great with feeding the homeless. We had the opportunity to discuss how to feed the people better and how to access as many of them as is possible. Lack of food is some very serious problems which limiting the ability of people to work and maintain productivity over time. People who are hungry cannot work even if there were job opportunities.Reference
