The Culture of the US to the Culture of Barcelona
Human resource management considers the perspective of every individual’s culture while hiring and managing a staff. Comparing the culture between two countries enhances the ability if human resource management to understand their staff. Understanding the culture of staff determines the compatibility of the staff with the existing organizational culture that impacts their performance. The paper compares three cultural differences between the US and Barcelona that’s essential in recruiting staff and organizational management.
The common people in the US often smile at one another while walking in the streets. On the other hand, in Barcelona, Spain it’s just the opposite since the Spaniards are friendly people, but while walking, you don’t expect to see people smiling at one another. In an organization, the culture makes a manager to understand the reactions of individuals as they try to relate to one another in the company (Pilhofer, 2011). The perspective of every individual on emotions defines their coexistence in the company; the human resource will be able to understand the factors that determine a motivated US worker from a motivated Barcelona worker. Understanding what makes an individual happy makes the management to provide the necessary attention to the staff members.
The dressing in Spain is cool and not complicated as compared to the dressing to the intricate dressing style in the USA.

The dressing code is important in assisting the management in providing rules that do not frustrate the workers (Pilhofer, 2011). If in any case, the recruits come with a different style of dressing than the expected, the human resource should understand the staff.
Spaniards have a siesta which is the time that is set aside during the day to have some rest, and it is often in the afternoon between 2pm-4pm, during that time most business enterprises are closed, and individuals have rest. The case is different in the US where people work from morning to evening without having rest. There is only a lunch break when people disperse to take lunch then resume their jobs after one hour (Pilhofer, 2011). The management will be able to provide the staff with what their culture stipulates so that conflicts are not experienced in the organization.
In conclusion, cultures are different from one country to another, and it determines the role of the human resource managers in recruitment and general management. The manager can make rational decisions on employee’s perspectives and provide motivational needs and desires. Therefore, there is a cultural difference between the US and Barcelona, Spain regarding dressing, resting hours, and interaction.
