Recognizing a conflict of interest, and how to appropriately handle the conflict.
Many are the time individuals or organizations find themselves in a series of interests, financial dilemmas that could corrupt the decision-making process (Stuart-Wilson, 2016). The existence of the conflict of interest tends to be independent of impropriety occurrence. As such, the ordeal can be voluntarily being diffused or realized before the onset of any corruption ordeal (In Marques & In Dhiman, 2017). The paper thereof seeks to bring out an understanding of the conflict of interest. It explains the various details of the conflict in the form of case study personal experience. Here, it will succinctly expound to shed light on the interest that conflicted. Ultimately, it will explore whether the interest was resolved and the how this was done.
Conflict of Interest Review
Once I found myself torn in a conflict of interest situation. I had worked for my full-time employer in his production department for si6x months. He knew me as one of the active employees who were essential to the company continued existence. After working for a while, my friend introduced me to another rival organization that produced same services and products as that of my employer. The new company was offering a slightly good salary to their employees compared to where I was working. The two organizations also shared several similarities that seem to compete with each other.

I have faced the dilemma of conflict of interest of whether to change my full employee and move to the new company.
According to my friend, the rival company valued its employees more. It offered holiday allowances and incentives to its employees. The company also allowed part-time employees to work in their premises at better pay. Especially when they identify you as productive and one who seems to contribute positively the company profit realization pursuits, they will likely offer such employees full-time contract in the company. The two companies were located near the town. For this reason, they were all accessible to my apartment (Aultman, n.d). I wanted to increase my earning and raise my monthly savings. I had thought of working as a part-time employee in the new company and receive an extra coin. There was a conflict of interest however in making this to decide if I would work on the other company privately on a part-time basis without revealing this to my full-time employee. I knew my employee would not be happy to hear the news. He would probably think I would share the company secret and trademark copyrights to the other company were unethical.
I had to solve this conflict of interest to stand a better position had to l seek advice from friends on how to handle the situation facing me. Considering I wanted to save more than I was spending, I had to look for an extra source of income. To solve this situation, the other organization allowed night shifts. The night shift employees were working on an hourly basis and received great remunerations. In this case, after my full-time job, I would work for the other company for about two hours which was enough to earn me an extra coin. Then I realized the new company also allowed its workers to work on weekends. As such, I found this being another avenue to earn additional income. My full-time job only allowed its workers to work on weekdays. Albeit, this gave me another chance to work on the other company privately without any disruptions of my full-time job. The entire arrangement was successful, and there were several rooms for improvement in solving the dilemma of conflict of interest that I was being faced with.
I was happy with how it turned out. I successfully continued working in both companies successfully without interfering with my personal schedules. I was ethical enough not to disclose the secrets of the other company production strategies. The whole arrangement coordinated well thus the problem of the conflict of interest had now been solved. In this regard, I was able to earn extra income which made me meet the expenses that ultimately facilitated me in achieving the goals and milestones I had set.
In conclusion, severe conflict of interest, especially in workplaces, may be attributed by several factors such as working with a competitor on either contract or as an employee or disclosing information for instance trade secrets to the third party (George, 2003). Additionally, when an employee start works in their spare time which competes with their full-time employers or utilizes skills elsewhere, this equally amounts to direct clash in the interests (Fields, n.d.). In many cases, employees would be needed to sign in the employee agreement. This features the confidentiality clause to remedy the problem of conflict of interest. The employee should strive to ensure he has not disclosed anything to the rival company (Aultman, n.d).
