Connecticut’s Sandy Hook shooting
The cases of gun violence in America have been on the increase over the past decade. America tops in the world when it comes to the number of deaths in the community involving a firearm. The public outcry from families that have experienced loss of loved ones and the media have exacted pressure on the authorities for a solution to the problem. Gun violence has been considered a social issue and strategies tied to the healthcare have been applied to curb the skyrocketing crime rates in America (Barron, 2012). Sandy Hook Elementary massacre took nearly took the nation to her knees and became the reason behind the public outcry on the increasing cases of mass shooting in public place. On December 14, 2012, Adam Lanza embarked on a mission to attack students at the Sandy Hook Elementary School killing nearly twenty kids and six members of the faculty.
The twenty-year-old culprit had murdered his mother in their home before committing suicide after his shooting spree in the school. Lana killed kids between six and seven years old, and the incident went down on history as one of the deadliest mass shootings in America. Despite the loss of lives, the community was adversely affected by survivors struggling with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders (PTSD) and other psychological conditions (Sedensky, 2013). The massacre brought a culture of fear and parents were paranoid about taking their children to school just in case another madman took matters in his hands resulting in the death of innocent civilians.

Wait! Connecticut’s Sandy Hook shooting paper is just an example!

The community was no longer the same, and the mysterious motives of the culprit had left people wondering how such an act was possible with the presence of an able police department.
