The connection between Theory and Advanced Clinical Practice
Nursing science is a separate discernable body of knowledge consisting of patterns, theories as frameworks. Incorporation of the theories into practice exhibits a revolutionary approach that is used to introduce a pattern shift into the principle of science nursing. While many people perceive nursing theory as impracticable, it plays one of the central roles. Quality initiatives and patient safety continue to obligate nurses to perform their caring tasks from a context of professionalism. An up-to-date evidence-based practice improves the level of care provided by nurses to the patients and the administration. This paper attempts to determine the connection that exists between theory and advanced nursing practice. In simple terms, it clarifies if the nursing theory has a role when it comes to clinical practice.
As per research, nursing theory enables nurses to have a perspective which is vital when analyzing patient’s situations. Similarly, it provides them with knowledge which helps them in data analysis in addition to interpreting them. With the help of a theoretical point of view, a nurse can be able to actively plan and practice care with determination (Boykin & Schoenhofer, 2015). Practicing purposefully and thoroughly makes nurses more effective and improves their communication with others. Furthermore, nurses achieve more power which enables them to control what is expected of them.

A large part of concepts found in theory is linked to health, patient, nursing, and environment. These components make up what is called nursing paradigm, and they contribute to the level of care offered by the nurses in addition to the rates of healing of the patients.
Moreover, nursing theories help nurses to explain and predict various occurrences, i.e., it makes phenomena clear and provable. Some of them, for instance, middle-range theories, can be applied when carrying our research. Besides, some theories have the capability of guiding interventions in the field of nursing and this help to change conditions to suit and improve nursing care (Saleh, 2018). Apart from that, every middle-range theory solves specific or concrete occurrences by explaining what the occurrences are in addition to giving reasons and ways they occur. During the process, the theories help to improve the link existing between diagnosis and outcomes of nursing care. Research further reveals that nursing theory helps nurses when serving patients. It is through the theory that nurses learn sociocultural, physiological, developmental, spiritual, and psychological aspects of their patients. Things learned by nurses comprise culture, beliefs, and practices of patients from the different ethnic background and culture care.
From the explanation above, the clinical nursing practice should be holistically shaped by the theory that ascertains the perspectives of nurses and stipulates what constitute principals of care, professional work, and therapy. In other words, the practice of clinical nursing is dictated by nursing viewpoints and principles of practice. Nursing theory establishes the commitments and orientations that guide these philosophies. Because of this, nursing theory is crucial as it characterizes the theories that are applied to accomplish the requirements for technical, scientific, aesthetic, ethical and existential dimensions. Similarly, it plays a role in nursing practice and when attempting to solve clinical questions. For a nursing theory to be useful, nurses should be able to synthesize them until they arrive at the right answers. They should also be able to devise specific nursing tactics that can be employed to solve problems. This is the only way they can be able to deliver exceptional nursing care that is characterized by technical, scientific, ethical and existential dimensions.
