Crime in the Bible
The bible is littered with many episodes of crime. Almost all natures of crime are recorded in the bible for instance corruption, treason, assassination, and theft. For example, in the case of Joab and Abner, Abner had killed Asahel, Joab’s brother and Joab longed for the opportunity where he could avenge for the death of his brother. When David released Abner and left him to go in peace, Joab sent messengers to Abner and brought him back to Hebron where Joab took him aside and stuck him to death. Abner had killed Asahel at Gibeon in the battlefield, and the crime of assassination committed by Joab on Abner was an act of revenge was as an act of revenge.
In the modern world, the crime of assassination is common. People tend to kill one another for different reasons such as the search for power, love and even property. For instance, in the United States, statistics show that in the city of New Orleans, for every two thousand residents of the city, there existed one homicide (Easton, 2018). The data implies that a resident at New Orleans lives at the expense of his life and know not when the life can be taken away.
In the recent past, murder has been on the rise. Though in the case of Joab and Abner, both were soldiers and one murder occurred in the battlefield which later led to another outside the battlefield. Modern cases of murder do not involve battlefield, but the majority of cases is due to the greed for money.

In my home state, cases of murder have been rampant, and the causes are sometimes mysteries. The concepts of sin and crime are somehow related. According to the bible, we sin when we break God’s law, while crime is as a result of going against laws of the state. Sin is punishable by God and crime is punishable by the state (Tentler, 2015) Also, it is true that all crimes are sins but not all sin is crimes, for instance, fornication. Depending on the circumstances, a fornicator is always considered a sinner but not a criminal because it is not punishable by the law of the land.
