Critical Review
The analysis of the data is a process where information is evaluated through logical and analytical reasoning in examining each component of the data available. In the article about “Qualitative insights into faculty use of student support services “as well as the article about “The impact of distance Education on higher education,” qualitative methods of data analysis are utilized. In this case, the authors in the analysis of the data have made some explanation, understanding as well as an interpretation of the people and the situation in which they are investigating (Caruth, & Caruth, 2013). In “Instructional Design Strategies for intensive online courses”, the author uses summative evaluation of data available to understand the link between online courses and the success of the students (Chen, 2014).
The details which helped me to understand the analysis in qualitative research are the use of the interview to collect data, taking filed notes and review of documents such as reports. For example, looking at the article, “Qualitative insights into faculty use of student support services,” I was able to draw the connection between the author’s topics with the aims from the description of facts. The aim of the study is outlined together with the methods utilized in research (Russo-Gleicher, 2014). Through a review of the methods and the author’s description, I was able to understand how data was analyzed and conclusions made.
Wait! critical review paper is just an example!
The shortcomings of the three articles are that they lacked the evidence that showed the steps used in the analysis of data. This hindered the ability to tell the validity of the methods used. From the reading of the articles, I learned that qualitative data analysis is instrumental in giving and understanding of the research objectives. However, the review can be frustrating when there is a vast amount of data. The use of process and steps can make the method practical.
