An Examined Life Critical Thinking and Ethics
This chapter talks about the reasons for making moral arguments as well as the manner in which we do so. There is an interconnection between critical thinking and logic. Application of logic is subconscious and can take longer to learn formally. Critical thinking can be learnt formally and involves the engaging the thinker in some rational deliberations in solving a problem (Roca&Octavio, 37). Rational deliberation involves the application of skills such as empirical investigations, evidence analysis, assessment of arguments, ability to articulate and justify the analysis of the argument and justifications of premises and conclusions. These skills are applicable in a wide scope in life.
We use language to communicate our thoughts. It’s vital to study semantics to differentiate sentence structures when communicating logic. Sentences may be different but convey the same meaning (Roca&Octavio, 41). There is a distinction between moral rightness and moral goodness. Our moral philosophy is proved to rest on a mistake. The proper task of moral philosophy lies in the reflection of the immediacy of our knowledge of moral rightness (Roca&Octavio, 46).
In Albert Camus story “The Guest,” the writer depicts the character in this short story as lacking moral obligation. The interrelation between semantics and logical thinking is seen in action between characters. Daru is hesitant to deliver the Arab to police headquarters despite knowing he had killed someone.

Wait! Critical Thinking and Ethics revision paper is just an example!

He let the Arab make his decision on the premise of moral obligations (Roca&Octavio, 59). In summation, this story illustrates that we are obliged to make moral choices despite lacking solid criterion for moral judgment.
