The two have various differences one of them being; Data warehouse is controlled by a specific unit that has focal authority to do it whereas the data mart is controlled by sole divisions within a business such as finance.
Another difference is that data warehouse may hold several data capacities that itemized, unlike data mart that stored data that is abridged. Data warehouses are said to utilize dimensional models that bolster, on the other hand, data mart uses star blueprint dimensional model (Olivia, 2011). In terms of how they store their data, they are different. For instance, data warehouse stores data together with their sources while on the other hand a data mart store regroups related data that may be from a certain division of knowledge.
Organizations use both data warehouse and data mart to acquire useful information stored in them. Data warehouses are used to provide information that is useful for decision making and are mostly used by managers (“Data Warehouses and Data Marts”, 2018).

Data mart provides specialized information for a specific unit within the business such as information about marketing strategies. It may not be easy to acquire data from a data warehouse because a lot is stored in the warehouse center and has a nature of giving general information. It’s easier to get data from data mart due to its nature to store specialized data.
