Digital Gates
Introduction
Boolean functions can be implemented by the use of electronic gates where the power supply is provided. The two voltages 5V and 0V acts are nominal inputs and represent discrete numbers 1 and 0 respectively or HIGH and LOW.
Objectives
Determine the functions of a truth table using various digital gates.
Apparatus
Computer installed with Multisim
Procedure
Multisim software was opened in a pc
A Multisim flash panel appeared on the screen.
On the panel, we clicked on: Simulate then Instruments followed by logic converters
A screen with a logic converter appeared.
SN7408- 2 input AND gate was placed in the workspace. This was done by clicking the produced symbol then click on the select families on the dialog box that appears and specify SN7408.
We clicked ok on the pop-up box to get the screen with the input, specified the input A.
We then clicked cancel then closed the dialog box.
We then began connection by adding the wires. (NB inputs went to any points except for the last point on the right of XLC1)
We then right clicked on XLC1
We proceeded to generate the truth table.
The procedure from number five was repeated using other gates.
Results and discussion.

Discussion
For AND gate, an output of high is seen whenever all the inputs are high.
Wait! digital gates paper is just an example!
For OR gate a high output is seen if one or more of the inputs are high.
For NOT gate, an inverted version of the input is provided.
For NAND gate, the output was high if any of the input was low.
For NOR gate, the output was low if any of the input provided was high.
For EXOR gate a high output was seen if either but not both of the inputs were high (Neamen 11).
