One of the primary agenda of policymakers is ensuring a healthy community where the public has access to medical care. This will boost the productivity of human capital in the economy and the process improves the concept of nation-building. However, in most instances, the inequalities in income distribution have sidelined particular groups in the society living below the poverty and unable to access proper health care. In an attempt to consider the wellbeing of the populace, the American government formulated the Medicare Payment policy meant to streamline the healthcare sector in the country. The implementation of the Medicaid was premised on the provision of health insurance covers to the public to facilitate their access to medical services in the health facilities. The Medicare program in the United States of America is no a new phenomenon but has been in existence since 1965 when first commissioned.
The then president of America, Lyndon Johnson was responsible for the passing the bill that give birth to the Medicare Payment Policy. It was a new policy that was meant to tackle some of the healthcare issue facing the public at the time. The original plan only covered health insurance and medical insurance of just those people in the country who had a stable income to pay for the services. Consistencies were found, and Congress had embarked on reforms on the Medicare program over the years to ensure that it pays attention to equality.

The changes made on the original bill have made more people eligible for the cover, and it has covered even the disabled and elderly who had been omitted in the “Original Medicare.” Today, things are much better, and the poor can afford the healthcare particularly those with acute, chronic ailments that require constant checkup.
