Reggio Emilia is the work of Loris Malaguzzi who was a Psychologist in Italy. The approach focuses on educating both preschool and primary school children. The approach is made to the principles of respect, responsibility and the community (Rinaldi, 2006). To meet the principles, the students are driven towards a self-guided curriculum that helps them explore and discover their potential.
Assumptions
The approach assumes that the children are responsible for their personality and they shape it during their early age. Further, the approach holds the assumption that, the children express their ideas in hundreds of different languages (Rinaldi, 2006). As such, its main aim is to teach the children how to use those languages to express their ideas.
