Emotional Intelligence (EI) can be defined as the ability of individuals to understand their emotions and the emotions of the people they interact with and manage them. It is measured by various factors all of which are based on the capability of people to make rational decisions between two options of emotional importance and discern which to apply specific scenarios. EI has four main dimensions, the main ones being understanding, management, empathy, and relationship. Understanding is the basis of EI since it enables individuals learns and comprehends the issue at hand as far as the emotional process is concerned (The Free Library, 2014). Management is the dimension in which individuals try to handle the issue at hand from the emotional perspective skillfully. For the case of empathy, it entails the extent to which an individual tries to understand the viewpoint of other people’s emotions. According to the status of the sense of empathy that a person has, the relationship between two different people can easily be determined.
There are many examples of EI. Some of them include self-awareness who are people who are aware of who they are and their emotions. Gracefully and peacefully accept defeat is another example of EI which is commonly experienced (Businessballs.com, 2014). Agreeing with people of different perspectives in situations where there is no hope is a common example of IE.

Patience is also an example of IE which is experienced by many individuals. Other examples include self-control, dealing with sarcasm, social presence, and others.
The test has enabled me to understand the other side of me since I have never asked myself or rather thinks about some questions. Particularly, since the test requires genuine answers, I have noticed that I handle different situations uniquely and certainly against my will (Institute for Health and Human Potential, 2018). I have noticed that I am an open-minded person who is considerate of the opinions of other people. Having responded to all questions, the results have indicated that I am a person with a high EI.
The fact that EI enables one to identify, utilize as well as manage emotions, it helps relieve stress, ensure effective communication, foster empathy, prevent conflict from arising and other challenges. The reason behind this is that it enables people to organize their emotions positively and in ways that they can harmoniously interact with others. Additionally, EI enables people to overcome various life challenges such which are affiliated with various issues (The Free Library, 2014). Regardless of the background of the issues, whether professional, social, psychological and others, EI enables individuals to identify the best approach to employ and handle them. Reportedly, EI has some advantages over Intelligence Quotient (IQ). Notably, it is determined by various personal qualities. Self-control, compassion, perseverance, and other basic human characteristics. Also, EI enables individuals to understand non-verbal cues when interacting with other people and acting accordingly.
EI can be enhanced in many ways. Some of them include; refraining from judging one’s feelings. One should be able to make up a decision and not dismissing it immediately. Another way people should avoid interrupting the debate at hand. They should stick to the subject matter until they have explored it fully. Before starting thinking and discerning about any issues, people should be able to first connect their feelings to thoughts before making any judgments (Institute for Health and Human Potential, 2018). Individuals should be able to listen to what their inner being or rather emotions tell them and make decisions based on them. Individuals can also learn how to trigger and use the unconscious feelings to make decisions. On the same note, individuals should ensure that the situations they are going through at the time of decision making do not influence them in any way.
