Managerial Decision
It is a case of a morally intense issue. The issues involved in this case are matters of life and death. The plant is a source of livelihood for the unfortunate disabled in the society who cannot get employment anywhere.
Moreover, their families can face break up with the shutting down of the plant. Furthermore, I have one year before retirement, and I am likely to suffer a financial loss with shutting down of the plant. Besides, considering my economic status and my inadequacies in acquiring other jobs coupled with the allergies of my spouse, I find the plant as my only hope. Contrastingly, the plant is affecting not only the environment but also three hundred Canadians. Therefore, these factors influence my perception of the situation because any decision I make must negatively influence the people involved.
In making a decision, there are destructive motivations that might influence my decision. One such catastrophic decision is serving my interest. Another destructive motivation is saving the disabled together with their families who are likely to face a family break. Besides, I am inclined to experience some cognitive biases that can potentially undermine my decision-making. Some of these biases include status quo bias where I might be afraid of the potential change that might arise following the decision. Another cognitive bias is the anchoring effect where I will only focus on the limited impact of my choice at the expense of the bigger picture.

Wait! Ethics paper is just an example!

Projection bias is another cognitive bias that can undermine my decision-making. I can be a victim of the rushed decision.
To avoid these biases, I can reflect before deciding on one of the ways of overcoming anchoring biases. Moreover, I can overcome status quo bias by changing my mindset to embrace change by having an open mind approach to the issues at hand. Furthermore, being patient and considering all the available options can help overcome projection bias. However, moral emotions will provide guidance during the decision making process. It will enable me to make a rational decision that is both ethical and moral.
