Exploration of Identity Narrative
Introduction
Every time I take my family out for our monthly dinner, memories of my childhood come flooding. I was brought up in Athens County of Ohio State, and throughout my childhood, I was exposed to abject poverty, violence, broken families and ever increasing cases of child abuse. As my children engage each other in endless play in the restaurant open space under the glare of the moon and the hotels light, I usually feel detached from their experience. Our worlds were created differently.
Ohio was the cradle of drug abuse where children as young as twelve years were masters of the illegal drug trade. Initially, my grandparent were lowly immigrants from France who settled in Ohio as workers in the iron industries. Here I am a high ranking economist working with the World Bank enjoying all the good things of life. However, I do not connect with this life. I perceive myself as a cultural outsider living in society fragmented along the lines of resources. When I think about the rising cost of living, the ballooning unemployment rate, and increased mass shooting, I feel that the American leaders in all spheres of the society have the solutions to these challenges.
Reflection on the Introduction.
The introduction has well-captured background information which lays the foundation for the rest of the narration (Najarro 1). This part also functions an attention grabber. Second, the scope of the identity narrative essay is narrowed to fit the context of the main body.
Wait! Exploration of Identity Narrative paper is just an example!
Last, the introductory paragraph has a thesis statement which carries the whole weight of the piece (Najarro 2).
Conclusion
In reality, the society cannot be transformed at the click of a button, but it requires a strategy that is gradually implemented. The ills in the American society need a collective approach where even the least “significant” in the community has a role to play. Today, there is a youth in Ohio who dreads waking up knowing the frustrations of looking for non-existent jobs. School going children are never at ease fearing that a lone shooter might end their lives. There is an Ohio resident who does not have hope for tomorrow. All these do not have quick fixes, but indeed the leaders are better placed to transform the society.
Reflection on the Conclusion.
The conclusion serves to bring closure to the reader through summing up the narration while also including a call to action (Najarro 1). The concluding paragraph states the author’s feelings about the current state of issues or the topic.
