Abstract
The speakers in “the fall 2016 service learning and leadership convocation” had an emphasis on various elements that hold direct interest among the participants. Service learning is one of the strategies used in the education curriculum and it requires students to participate in community work actively. The aim of this phase is to enrich the students with core values such as civic responsibilities as well as strengthening communities. The students will, therefore, be equipped with a learning experience and gain more abilities that form a foundation for leadership. This paper, therefore, addresses a reflection of the critical elements dealt with in the “Fall 2016 Service Learning And Leadership Convocation” by various speakers. It sends a thought of the child slavery in the community as addressed in this convocation with its effects. The impact created through the exercise of love as a virtue in the community and instances that facilitate personal growth and one’s knowledge. Several adverse elements in the community such as oppression and poverty too will be analyzed. Finally, the paper will reflect on the elements which when acquired and practiced will terminate the social problems in the society. It will include the race, attitudes, and interconnections.

Child slavery is one of the key issues addressed by the speakers relating to service learning and leadership.

They aimed at putting an end to constant mistreatment and oppression of children across the globe. Child slavery includes all forms of violation of children rights such as sexual abuse and violence, forced child labor, the participation of children in armed conflicts and using them as domestic child workers. Speakers indicated the effects associated with such acts and urged the attendees to involve themselves towards termination of this acts massively.
Love in society puts an end to the many adverse effects associated with hatred. Unlimited care and concerns for the people around us determine the level of success as a whole society. It creates the virtues of peace, harmony and understanding thus facilitating development among the members socially and economically. The love for one another forms the basis and motivates participants in service learning.
The service learning phase creates an opportunity for participants to gain more knowledge, experience, and understanding in a particular field. This leadership opportunity is meant to benefit the students who actively participate in such more to the compensation and rewards offered. Speakers also addressed the element of oppression and living in poverty among members of the society. Oppression is expressed through violation, intimidation and abuse of rights for the minorities by those in power of a high rank in the society.
As noted, the communal transformations would be useful following the restructure and considerations made towards a rethinking of our attitude. Attitudes form a broad foundation that dictates how we behave and value each member of the society. As individual learn and acquire the right attitudes, awareness and respect for everyone are created regardless of the race. Speakers held the concept of having one race which is the human race thus creating equity among the individuals. The forum set up in this field enables participants to interact with parties in diverse areas thus end up forming strong bonds. The interconnections establish an excellent platform useful in future endeavors.
