Fiction Short Story
The harder Melody scratched away at her forearm, the quicker the flesh fell away. From outside the containment unit, Dr. Cindy Harper and Dr. Kel Harmon watched on in dismay as the young girl continued to scream in pain. She was alone in the containment unit, as no one wanted to get close to her. Her boyfriend, friends, and family members had abandoned her, and they used to call her a ‘zombie.’ The doctors too feared to get into contact with her, as her case was unheard of in contemporary medical practice. Melody had a type of necrosis previously unseen. Necrosis refers to the death of a group of cells in a particular part of the body, and it is a condition with various possible causes (Wilkins n.pag).
For doctors to develop a cure for a particular illness, they have to find out the cause. The tests done on Melody’s blood did not lead the doctors to a conclusion on the cause. All the doctors knew was the information given to them by Melody’s family members before they abandoned her to die in the hospital. Melody’s family members claimed that she got the infection in some remote African forest after she had eloped with her boyfriend for a whole month. They thought that she either ate something poisonous or some infectious insect bite her during her stay in the forest. The only thing the doctors knew for sure about Melody’s conditions was that it caused an intense itch on her body. They observed in a distance as flesh from her body fell away with every scratch.

Wait! Fiction Short Story paper is just an example!

The doctors hoped that they could find out the cause soon enough to save Melody from the agony.
