The Omnivore’s Dilemma (Annotation writing)
In chapter 9, Pollan tends to give a comprehensive understanding of the ever-increasing firm of organic farming. The author explained foodstuff that is sold as organic lack impeccable truth and is normally demonstrated using vague wording. The chapter also investigates the leadership of 11 billion dollars organic food industry. The organic food industry was initiated to grow uncontaminated food to serve the destitute population (Pollan 134-184). The chapter depicts that the entire company is a certified organic enterprise that produces foodstuff free from chemicals. However, their operations are questionable in as much as they produce pure food products. For instance, the chickens are fed organic food substances but are said to be slaughtered within seven weeks.
Conversely, in as much as the foods are grown organically, the distribution process still employs fossil fuels to transport the foodstuff. This aspect makes one question the organic farming since the packing and distribution processes employ some fossil fuel. This chapter also depicts how Pollan decided to make a meal from products at the whole food industry. As a result, Pollan concluded that indeed, organic food tastes better than other meals. This is because they have more dominant antioxidants as well as desirable vitamins (Pollan 134-184).
In a nutshell, the author of this chapter is convinced that in as much as organic foods and industry is fairing on well, there exist some problems that the firm is likely to face.

Unfamiliar word: Look it up and explain how knowing the meaning helps you understand the passage.
The most unfamiliar word here is organic. The word organic has been used in chapter 9 to refer to a farming company that operates without the presence of pesticides, fertilizers, genetically modified organisms or any sewage sludge. The meaning of the word organic helps one in understanding the entire chapter by conceptualizing on the necessary requirements of organic food or meals.
