Nutrition education can be viewed as a process where individuals translate nutrition science findings obtained from the field of education into the daily habit of their food preferences. As opposed to the historical times, current scale farming techniques in agricultural farming has made food cheap and plentiful. With most foodstuffs becoming plenty and cheap at the marketplaces, varieties of factors set in to influence people’s food choices. In my case, media and advertisement, and nutritional value are the main factors that take control of my food choices.
Media and advertisement
I have a passion for trying out new things, and the influence comes from the media and advertisements. When I watch a food advertisement on television or social media, I take a note of it and research for the food recipe on the internet. During my free time, i would do the shopping for the food ingredients and practice cooking the meal. In as much as I have been expanding my scope of recipes, my preference for new food choices has been expanding too.
Nutritional value
Staying a healthy life through eating proper diet has always been one of my life’s objective. In as much as I try to expand my food choice horizons, I make an effort to keep them within limits of healthy eating to avoid food-related health complications.
Culture and peer have been significant factors cited by colleagues as their major influence on food choice. They are powerful, and it is difficult to disagree with them since they make people feel part of the larger society.

Culture and peers determine what people eat, what constitutes of their meal, and the order in which the meal is taken (Zimmerman 1). It is easy for one to break free from the shackles of peer influence when it influences you negatively, however, culture present a deep-rooted dimension and it is difficult for one just to run away from its influence if you are part of it.
With food being in plenty supply and cheap, I disagree with the colleague who cited that he eats few and specific varieties of food since they are available in the market. There are many foodstuffs varieties on the market which are highly affordable. Thus being limited to just a few is not a matter of availability but a choice.
