There exists a wide range of conflicts in different Asian countries, especially between countries of the southeast and the Middle East. The state of conflict and violence in the Asian continent has been significant in the factors of development and prosperity in the region. More than 14 nations on the continent are involved in conflicts. Some of these conflicts represent historical elements of the relationships between different countries, the representation of aspects of local politics, power and also religious factors. Some of the critical trends that lead up to some of the major conflicts in the region include, the politicization of religious and ethnic identities, political instability and aspects of urbanization and the extending gap between the rich and the poor.
One of the most significant conflicts in Asia occurs in the Middle East and involves the country Syria which has been engulfed in political conflicts with religious underpinnings and has extended the conflict to the surrounding nation (Winsor, 2018). The conflict in Syria is both religious and political with the current president Bashar al-Assad who is a Shia Muslim and being a Muslim population that is a minority in the country failing to give up power to Sunni rebel groups. The politicization of religious and ethnic factors is, therefore, the cause of the destruction of a nation as a result of different groups. Countries such as Iran, Turkey, the United States, and Russia have all taken different sides of the conflict, and this has only accentuated the problem with thousands dead and thousands more displaced out their country (Winsor, 2018).

The Conflict in Syria, therefore, represents a conflict in the Middle East represented by ethnic and religious differences that have been politicized and dragged the country down.
