Terrorism attack and security threats are significant issues in the United States of America. Each major city in the country has a history of security threats or a terrorist attack. Starting with New York City, it experienced a total of eleven terrorist attacks in the 20th century. However, the 21st century was accompanied with more terrorist attacks, with New York City currently recording eleven terror attacks. Washington DC also has marked several terrorist attacks in the twentieth and the 21st century. San Francisco experienced a terrorist threat in December last year by a former US marine. Its reason was to free San Francisco. Washington DC becomes the next City that has experienced several terror attacks with the known one being during the period of the war against Osama bin Laden (Carmody, 2005). It is still the safest city since no terror threats are recorded unlike in New York. Los Angeles has also experienced a total of four terrorist threats with the known one being a threat by LA band. Chicago has not recorded any terrorism threats in the 21st century.
Standard of living ranks for American cities
New York City is among the richest cities based on the sky-high rents and food costs. It is closely followed by San Francisco which also has hiked rent prices as well as charges on food. Washington DC is in the third position with relatively low rent prices and food costs.

However, Los Angeles and Chicago record to be the cheapest cities to live in based on the general cost of rent and food (Carmody, 2005).
