The experience of the Hurricane Irma is still very vivid in my mind. It was a tremendously powerful hurricane that people have ever witnessed in Atlantic. The Irma hurricane felled under the category of the five storms that was experienced on the island of leeward. The damages that were caused by the Irma is going to be felt for generations to come. In 2005, there was Katrina hurricane which stroke the United States, however, the Irma is far much above that one. It started from Cape Verde in August. It then got conditions that allowed to start spreading and that is how it moved up to Florida. It became a category four hurricane on September 4th as it was moving into more favorable conditions.
I can remember warnings were being issued from almost every corner. Not the media, not the Emergencies agencies. I saw the federal emergency management agency deploying various teams that were to help in the rescuing of people. There was food, medicine, blankets among other things that were being supplied. Some residents started taking preventive measures by safeguarding their homes as they waited for the strong winds to come. In case of any evacuation process, the emergency crews were ready to offer support. In certain places, the people had no option rather than to leave that area because massive floods were being expected. There was no more schooling, and business activities came to an end. The northern part was supposed to be the primary zone of the hurricane.

Therefore, those individuals on the North were given a severe alert. The area was to suffer due to the rough sea. Specific areas also got a lot of support and reinforcement from various agencies and the military. That is because there was a significant possibility of them suffering from the hurricane as they were directly interlinked with the north. Evacuations orders were also being issued to areas that were likely to suffer from the storms. I saw the Humanitarian satellite being provided by the International Charter on Space and Major Disaster.
The Irma Hurricanes had an enormous impact on the areas that it affected. They were very devastating and extensive. There was structural damage. Various essential structures were destroyed as a result of the hurricanes. They included Structures such as the police station, the hospitals, and the churches among other essential structures in the community. The hurricanes as well damaged many business and homes.
The agricultural sector also suffered from the event. There were various farming products that were destroyed from the farms. Specific products could not be manufactured thus going to waste. Most agrarian products are also rotten resulting in a loss.
Various deaths were also experienced. It is estimated that a minimum of ninety-three people died. The ends were brought about by drowning, trauma and being poisoned by carbon monoxide. The lack of air conditioning led to some death of those who were undergoing treatment. In our area, there was lack of electricity supply due to the distortion brought by the hurricanes. One could neither surf the internet nor make phone calls as the network was lost during that event. The sanitation was wanting because the sewage overflowed. It was a terrible experience. However, later, I read the newspaper that the government is claiming that the damage was less as compared to what they had anticipated.
