Table and Example of Hawthorne Effect

The word Hawthorne effect originated from the study of the psychological aspects, the physical and influences of the environment at the place of work at the Hawthorne plant in the year the nineteen twenties. The employees improved their productivity when under study and productivity could fall when studies were complete. That meant that participants could alter their conduct because of attention, irrespective of the manipulation experiment. There is an excellent change in productivity as a result of the Hawthorne effect (Sedgwick and Greenwood, 2015).
Example of Muralidharan & Sundararaman (2011)’s experiment
The way to measure Hawthorne effect is by having two control groups, as a Hawthorne control group and the other one as a pure control group. The control group gets no intervention, but it takes part in the in the collection of data used in the study. The refined control lacks knowledge of the Hawthorne effect study (Evans, 2014).
Table 1
INPUTS WITHOUT Bonus to group Personal Bonus
WITHOUT 100 academies 100 academies 100 academies
More of the teacher’s contract 100 academies Greater Grant 100 academies Results of the tests table
Treatment Hawthorne control Pure Control
The teacher’s Conduct High High Low
Test Scores High Low Low
To best demonstrate this, consider the above table that gives an example of Muralidharan and Sundararaman teachers experiment. In total, they had four hundred schools that were in within four treatment and one hundred control schools.

Wait! Hawthorne effect paper is just an example!

They all took the trials with observations being regular, for the control schools the tests lacked stakes and the 100 schools got influenced by Hawthorne effect (Evans, 2014). Visits to them reminded them of their experimental analysis and needed to impress the observers in the class. There was also the real control group that had no trial. There was only one attendance check with the final analysis. Comparisons on Hawthorne control schools and simple control showed that schools with teachers with bonus pay were identical to conduct of the teachers with the test results being higher in treatment schools than in the Hawthorne control schools (Evans, 2014).
