Discussion: Aligning the Systems with the Strategic Plan of the Organization
The first step necessary to ensure that the information systems established match what the organization is looking is by hiring IT experts CITATION Wag13 l 1033 (Wager, Lee, & Glaser, 2013). These individuals can study the systems and make the required recommendations. On the other hand, the organization might outsource the skills from tech companies familiar with the technology needed. Irrespective of the decision made, the involvement of IT experts is crucial to the alignment of information systems with the goals of the organization. The IT plan might involve a more formal venue with committee meetings and all those accompanied activities or a simple conversation which compares the company budget and the need for information technology.
The linkage of the IT plan with the strategic plans of the company occurs in senior leadership meetings. The CIO (Chief Information Officer) or a representative IT manager should be included in such meetings to provide a comprehensive analysis of the IT needs of the company based on the strategic plans and activities as outlined by the participants of the meeting CITATION Wag13 l 1033 (Wager, Lee, & Glaser, 2013). For example, the CFO (Chief financial officer) denotes the kind of financial information system needed by specifying the financial statements which the institution uses.

The CIO then makes sure that those requirements are consistent with the current information systems or informs the IT departments of the changes needed. As the conversation proceeds, the CIO takes note of the issues outlined and find a working system which minimizes the issues. A good example would be when the committee members talk about the problems of patients struggling to call many locations to book an appointment CITATION Wag13 l 1033 (Wager, Lee, & Glaser, 2013). They could inform the CIO to supervise the development of a common scheduling system for all regions or branches of the health center. In this instance, the IT plan psyches with the goals of the organization.
