The cost of treatment in public and private healthcare facilities in the U.S is significantly high. Citizens, especially from the middle and lower social class, therefore, cannot afford quality medication (Lucado et al., 2017). In this regard, it is important to recommend the following possible solutions for the cost issue in the U.S.
Physicians should use cheap treatment options for their patients. The medical procedures, however, should not compromise the quality of therapy. In addition, patients suffering from complex infections should be referred to hospitals with necessary facilities to minimize the treatment cost.
The government should subsidize the treatment costs, especially for imported drugs and equipment. Alternatively, the government can commence the manufacture of regularly used drugs within the hospital premises. This will reduce the cost of transportation as well the general treatment expense.
The government should introduce a policy that regulates the cost of treatment in healthcare facilities (Harris, 2008). Some hospitals charge high prices for their services since they are interested in promoting their own products. Additionally, these facilities avoid buying cheaper alternative drugs from other manufacturers to limit patients and physicians to the available expensive therapy. However, the policy will force hospitals to avail cheaper drugs for treatment.
From the peer posts, medical insurance has not been discussed as a possible solution to the cost issue.
Wait! Healthcare Administration paper is just an example!
The government and other concerned organizations should sensitize citizens on the importance of medical insurance plans. The healthcare insurance enables patients to access cheap or free treatment in hospitals of their choice (Runciman et al., 2017). The peers also failed to identify the issue of lack of qualified personnel in healthcare facilities. In this regard, hospitals should focus on the quality of staff rather than minimizing employment cost.
In conclusion, the implementation of recommendations such as cheap treatment options, subsidized medication, and the introduction of cost regulation policy will reduce the general expense of treatment in the U.S.
