The US Citizenship and Immigration service work as part of the Homeland Security with the purpose of improving the state of immigration and citizenship in the country. The USCIS has taken an active step in overseeing the process of visa, and green cards are well managed, and the naturalizing process of immigrant operates under the federal requirements (Wolfinbarger, 2017). The agency shows commitment to helping immigrant became part of the American citizen and protected their interest against political attacks. Moreover, the agency reviews analyze and regulate the laws and policies that facilitate the process of immigration and citizenship in the country
The USCIS takes an active role in Homeland Security as an independent agency in charge of the security of the state from illegal immigrants, unlawful citizen and foreign immigration. The agency through the DHS helps in resolving individual cases and employers that involves identification areas, immigration benefits and work ethics. Additionally, the USCIA agency helps the Homeland security in solving military personnel conflict, especially in cases that involves citizenship and immigration of their either families or relatives.
Since the end of the 9/11, the USCIS has tightened their operation and services when it comes to providing citizenship and naturalizing of immigrants. The 9/11 created a looming fear of future terrorism, which led to the agency introducing the plenary meeting, which was to enrich the process of vetting immigrants before obtaining their citizenship.
