G-Free Homemade Pastries & Cakes: Business Model

Description of Product
The products planned for this business includes homemade pastries and cakes. The business model that will be used is a refinement of an already-existing business model. The homemade pastries and cakes will be made using gluten-free baking ingredients. This is important since so many health-conscious customers exist in today’s world who are demanding gluten-free products (Hoşafcı, 2016). In fact, according to Hoşafcı (2016), the high demand for gluten-free products arises from coeliac patients dietary requirements and the general public that is health conscious who believe that “gluten-free products will help them overcome problems related to bloating or indigestion” (p.1). Moreover, Hoşafcı (2016) reported that the market, globally, for bread that is gluten-free “was valued at USD1.0 billion in 2015” (p.1).
Business Location and Online Presence
The business will be known as ‘G-Free Pastries & Cakes’. The homemade gluten-free pastries and cakes will be sold in a local store location. However, the home-made gluten-free pastries and cakes will have an online presence that enables consumers to place their order via the website.

Wait! Homemade Pastries & Cakes paper is just an example!

To gain a competitive edge over competitors, G-Free Pastries & Cakes will offer delivery services. This feature will result in the company being preferred over competitors since customers will not have to take time away from work, run errands after work, or run out on the weekend to pick up their order. This will be considered a great feature by customers who are busy and need to make sure they have their products at a certain time and particular location. The delivery feature will also enable the company to gain the business of larger businesses and corporations that order such products for business meetings, breakfast meetings, and luncheons for the workplace.
Pricing
The pricing scheme for G-Free Homemade Pastries and Cakes is shown in the following figure.
Figure 1
Sheet Cake $20.00
2 Layer Cake $18.00
3 Layer Cake $24.00
1 dozen pastries $18.00
There will be a 20% delivery charge attached for customers who schedule delivery for their purchases. There is also a $20.00 minimum to qualify for delivery. While the prices are higher than the prices for products that are not gluten-free, the rising demand for gluten-free products justifies the prices that have been set. Additionally, since gluten-free ingredients cost more than the typical baking products, the price must be higher so that G-Free Pastries and Cakes can realize a profit.
G-Free Pastries & Cakes will offer a wide range of flavors for each of the products. Additionally, the company will offer personalization of the cakes with various decorating themes such as those for birthdays, anniversaries, company-specific personalization, and individual-specific personalization. The company will charge an additional $7.00 for personalization. However, personalization charges will be flexible depending on the elaborate nature of the personalization. The company will also offer wedding cakes that are gluten-free. The pricing for wedding cakes will be flexible since a simpler wedding cake would cost much less to produce than a wedding cake that is elaborate.
Summary and Conclusion

The business can charge higher prices for these products. This business model includes a delivery feature for customers which will differentiate the company’s offerings from other similar companies.
