They say opportunity knocks once on a man’s door. Well, the saying has never seemed so real until one Saturday afternoon. I was enjoying the breathtaking view of the horizon at the beach sipping on my favorite smoothie when a young man dressed in blue shorts and a white tank-top approached me. Forgive my hungry eyes, but the well-defined abs and biceps made my heart skip a bit. “Hello gorgeous, I’m Harry. You are?” He asked in the most fruity voice. Without hesitating, I introduced myself, a tremulous smile all over my face. Our conversation could not have started any better, and I already felt his vibe. We talked about the beautiful and the ugly, the shallow and the deep not realizing how fast darkness was subduing the light and I had to get home. His company took away the loneliness that crowned the better part of my life, and I hoped for a second meeting. After all, we both felt there was more to talk about and to my surprise. Harry asked me out for a date the following day. I thoughtlessly agreed to it since it was my first date as we exchanged our contacts and hugged goodbye.
On getting home, I found my mother ironing her preferred suit humming to her favorite local jams. I instantly knew she would not be at home the following day hence my date was a sure event. Hopefully, she did not notice the sly grin on my face as I said hello to her. I made my way to the bedroom and got ready for a quick shower. After freshening up, I settled for my best-loved TV show as I waited for dinner.
Wait! Imaginative Writing Coursework Example paper is just an example!
It was a great day for me, from meeting Harry to having my favorite dish, steak, and ale pie, on the menu. What could be better than this? Wait, did I say my chat with Harry kept replaying in my mind. I could not wait for our date. Did he feel the same? I was all lost in thought that I did not hear my mum calling me. I figured dinner was ready and my taste buds were already bursting as I headed for the dining.
My mum was in her usual seat. I took the chair next to her as my eyes feasted on the tantalizing food set on the table. I had not even taken a bite when my mum broke the most distressing news. I was to take care of my siblings the following day as our nanny had to take an emergency leave and my mum had a business meeting to attend. Did I hear her right? What about my date? I was hoping for it to be a joke but no, it was happening. This was a total bummer, and I had to think fast. There is no way I could stand Harry up. It was our first date and my first time to be in Delish Restaurant, the fanciest joint in town. “No, I can’t,’’ I blurted not realizing how rude I sounded. The look on my mum’s face demanded an explanation. I told her I had loads of pending research assignments and I had scheduled to spend the day at the library. Did I just lie to her? Surprisingly, she fell for it and decided we take my brothers to daycare. Phew! The date was on.
My day began earlier than usual since I had to prepare my brothers for daycare as my mum got ready for her meeting. She was to drop them there on her way. It did not take long, and I finally had the house to myself. I took the shortest shower possible and could not wait to fit into my favorite black dress whose length was suggestively above the knees. My blue ankle-boots would complete the look, and I knew Harry would like it. After getting dressed, I put on some makeup for a glowy look. The reflection on my mirror boosted my esteem. How could I be this beautiful?
I called the cab driver with whom Harry had connected me. I had barely taken breakfast, so I made myself some coffee as I waited for the cab. My excitement escalated as I thought about Harry. How handsome he was, how his stares sent chills through my spine. What a date it would be! In a few minutes, I heard a car shooting at the gate. That was the cab driver. I grabbed my purse and ran downstairs. I opened the gate and made my way to the cab when a familiar car pulled over just next to the cab. Was that my mum’s Range? I was startled. What next? I was torn between proceeding to the cab or finding out why she was back home so soon. Before I could decipher what to do, my mum was already out of the car, and she approached me with the most bewildered look on her face. “Did you lie to me, Maya?’’ She asked as she dragged me back to the house. Harry. My Harry. The moment had passed.
