Although God guided Nehemiah in all his endeavors, he rode his “Behema,” and took time to examine the wall as an assurance for the success of his plans. The prophet of God investigated the Valley Gate and the Dung gate located south of the Valley Gate (Montsion, 2016). Beside, Nehemiah visited the ruins of the Fountain Gate whose rubble was too high for his donkey to climb. Lastly, as part of his investigation, the prophet of God passed through the King’s Pool that collected streams of water into it. After careful scrutiny of the situation of the walls, Nehemiah influenced some people who would cooperate with him in his mission. Lastly, Nehemiah was determined to achieve his goals (Montsion, 2016). It is therefore evident that the three principles: investigation, co-operation and determination are vital tools for the organization before embarking on any endeavor.
From the fourth chapter of the book of Nehemiah, it is evident proper communication is essential towards the achievement of any goals. In the case of Nehemiah, there was adequate communication amongst the builders, that led to the completion of the wall in 52 days. For instance, the trumpet was the primary mode of communication that gathered the builders at various occasions, for example at times of invasion. Therefore, it inevitable that proper communications systems are essential in our lives. The book of Nehemiah depicts the importance of motivation in the achievement of our life goals (Montsion, 2016). For example, despite the fact, the strength of the laborers was wearing out motivation from the prophet of God kept them moving. Borrowing a leaf from the book of Nehemiah, principles of securing materials from in project management are the investigation of potential sponsors and donors and co-operation with the above shareholders and determination in the acquisition of the required help.
Before embarking on his mission, Nehemiah evaluated the situation of his problem by investigating the condition of the walls and the rubbles. Therefore, this virtue teaches us that when our work is extensive and spread out, it is always important to evaluate and base our problem-solving techniques on the feedback acquired. In Chapter two of the Book of Nehemiah, excellent leadership skills are evident. For instance, just like a good leader, Nehemiah united the people and passed on his mission and vision into the people’s spirits. Nehemiah depicted the virtue of good leadership by joining the people in rebuilding the walls (Montsion, 2016). Setting standards is evident in the scripture where the prophet of God allocated the work of rebuilding the wall to various prominent people in the society. For instance, priests built the Sheep-gate, Goldsmiths and Perfume-makers rebuilt the wall. These people set standards for others to follow. Also, in Chapter six of the book, the prophet of God set standards by overcoming three attacks that were meant to deviate him from his goals (Montsion, 2016).
The significance keeping good records is evident in the scripture. For example, the people appointed various people to serve different roles, such as 138 gatekeepers who were to be descendants of the Levites. Besides, records show of 148 descendants of Asaph who were singers. Also, it is evident that good record keeping is vital since the Book states that selection and appointment of workers followed their personal best interests (Montsion, 2016). Similarly, proper record keeping is critical to project management, since it helps keep track of all duties and roles subjected to various stakeholders. Worker assignments and job descriptions are a vital process in project management. Similarly, in the Book of Nehemiah, multiple jobs and roles were appointed to various people, which outline the importance of the process. For instance, there were gatekeepers, singers, Levites and other appointees made by the prophet of God.
