Class discussion on job characteristics and motivation
Name
Institution
In many years I was working as a call receiver in the center for the bank. From a day to day, I could receive more than 100 inbound calls. I performed this task for many years receiving calls from outside customers calling in to inquire about bank service like loans. I did not find this job motivating as it was lacking skills variety, autonomy and feedback required for motivation (Louis, 2016). The fact that I only worked as a call receiver never helped me acquire other skills working in the bank like management. Day to day, I reported to the call center for the bank and had no opportunity to choose any other task to perform. The type of job never allowed any feedback on my performance from the management of the bank.
