Laura Esquivel and the reader, written by Bernhard Schlink because I consider that they are two works that can respond very well the different interpretations of how a possible reader is able to perceive its content, taking into account several factors as will be seen later.

It is proven that each person perceives each color differently, this is because under the same light conditions, people see or interpret the colors depending on the types of cones they have in their retinas;This phenomenon is very comparable with two readers reading the same book, but interpreting and understanding completely different, or even opposite contexts.

There are several factors that mold the ideology and perspective of people: the environment, family traditions, gender, time, age, culture and therefore the country to which you belong. These factors come together and form a series of opinions and thoughts that are commonly accepted by the society to which it belongs in particular, and that is how opinions are formed such as: What is correct and that is not? When does the ethical and non -ethical line cross? These are some of the ideologies that are formed depending on the society to which you belong and which are highly criticized and important today.

This can be reflected in the novel as water for chocolate that deals with quite revolutionary issues and the time when it was published in 1989 is significant for women since machismo still predominated and the rights and integrity of women were not aGreat priority yet.

The readers of this novel, at the time of their publication they probably had a first quite negative and impressive impression (especially the [i] men) since it presents as the protagonist the figure of a woman, Tita, who defends her thoughts and her feelingsAbove all and opposes the rules and traditions of his family when they do not coincide are his ideas of what is correct and fair, therefore, many men and some women of the time would find him inappropriate. On the other hand, if this novel was read today, it would not have such a great impact in the same sense since the majority of society has evolved significantly and the rights of women are protected, perhaps what would have the most impact for both genresIt is the diversity of techniques used in this work: magical realism, contrary to the stereotype of the pink novel, as the image of the kitchen and woman, an image and as the author is able to connect and exciteThese are very different methods that are almost never combined in the same novel, so it would be shocking in the readers of the contemporary era, but in good sense.
