Abortion refers to the termination of a pregnancy before the time of birth has reached. Naturally, human beings have a nine-month gestation period hence when a fetus is expelled from the womb by artificial means before the full term is reached, then abortion has occurred. Arguments have been advanced regarding when life begins; some claim that conception marks the onset of life while others claim that parturition denotes the beginning of life. Further, some individuals will point out that a fetus does not enjoy constitutional rights such as living while others state that it has constitutional rights. Abortions at times have been regarded as murder hence implying that those who conduct them should be convicted of taking the life of another person. In some cultures, terminating a pregnancy before parturition is regarded to as a taboo while others consider it a population control measure. Diverse individuals will have differentiated opinions on why abortion should be legalized globally. Abortions are prohibited in most states, and people conducting them are dealt with by the law enforcement agencies. It has come to a point where motions are raised on the need to legalize abortions due to benefits associated with the action while others are against decriminalizing abortion due to the dangers linked to pregnancy cessation. Therefore, should countries raise the ban on abortions due to its pros or should pregnancy termination continue being illegal due to its dangers?
Pros of legalizing abortion
Legalizing abortions is a way of empowering women since it grants them the opportunity to make choices on whether to have offspring or not.

Wait! Legalizing Abortion paper is just an example!

Women should be allowed to make choices regarding their future since childbearing interferes with their careers. One stereotype that has limited the number of women in leadership positions is childbearing because it is perceived that women cannot concentrate on their careers since they have to take leave from their work to give birth and raise their kids. When pregnancy termination is legalized, women are given the independence to determine whether or not to keep it depending on the nature of their jobs. Therefore, women are given the liberty to terminate unwanted pregnancies and pursue their careers. Prohibiting pregnancy termination implies that women at the prime of their careers will have to take leave to give birth and look after their infants. Banning abortions limit the choices of women hence negatively affecting their careers (“Should Abortion Be Legal? – Abortion – ProCon.org” n.p.). Legalizing abortions will empower women since it will give them the freedom to determine what they want to do with their bodies. Further, making pregnancy termination a constitutional right of the females will increase women in leadership since pregnancies will not be a hindrance for those desiring to head organizations.
Abortions are a means of curbing the birth of children that are likely to suffer from long-term physical or mental health conditions. With the current technology, it is possible for physicians to identify the health situation of a fetus and any threatening defects they are likely to have. If abortions are legalized, it will make it possible for women to determine whether to terminate or keep a pregnancy if the fetus is likely to be suffering from medical conditions such as anencephaly and conditions where organs are developing outside the body. Therefore, legalizing abortions will give women the liberty to determine whether or not to give birth depending on the health status of the fetus (“Diagnosis | Birth Defects | NCBDDD | CDC” n.p.). It is challenging for parents to take care of kids born with severe disabilities hence decriminalizing abortions will give expectant women the freedom to determine whether or not to keep fetus with complications.
Legalizing abortions will be a way of controlling the population of the universe. The United Nations has pointed out that by the year 2050, the population of the earth will have been raised by at least nine billion individuals. Therefore, legalizing abortion will help control the world’s population. The burst in population growth globally will lead to a deficit of resources and a decrease in the access to social amenities. Legalizing abortions will further help curb social vices such as criminal activities, prostitution and substance abuse that emerge as a result of poverty and joblessness. Countries should legalize pregnancy termination as a way of controlling the expected rapid population growth that will contribute to the scarcity of resources and the emergence of social vices.
Legalizing the termination of pregnancies will help lower the birth of unwanted kids. In most instances, pregnancies are not planned for hence making them unwanted. Children that are born from unwanted pregnancies are often subjected to varied forms of torture. Unwanted pregnancies further cause women to be depressed. Therefore, governments should decriminalize abortions to ensure that psychological complications and physical abuse resulting from unwanted pregnancies are avoided (“Top 10 Reasons Abortion Should Be Legal” n.p.). Further, it will help people to be prepared before making choices on when to have kids. Preparedness will ensure that parents can provide basic wants to their kids and ensure that their children can access quality education. Therefore, raising the ban on abortions will help avoid unwanted pregnancies until when an individual is ready.
Abortions are conducted illegally hence placing lives at risk. Legalizing pregnancy cessation will lead to the emergence of licensed facilities that carry out the procedure safely. Legal facilities will help reduce the risks associated with abortion since they will aim at promoting health and safety. Therefore, legalizing abortion will reduce the post-abortion complications that are likely to result from the exercise.
Cons of legalizing abortion
Decriminalizing abortions will contribute to an increase in immoral behavior. People are likely to participate in unprotected sexual activities since they know that they can procure abortions in the case of accidental pregnancies. In most societies and religions, engaging in sexual activities is prohibited but when abortion is legalized norms and taboos will be broken. Further, it will encourage the emergence of social vices such as prostitution since abortions can be obtained at will. Uncontrolled sexual behavior is likely to contribute to increased incidences of sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV in societies. Diseases such as HIV have economic implications on the society hence creating a burden on taxes paid. Therefore, governments should endeavor to ban abortions as a way of reducing acts that have social implications.
Legalizing abortion encourages murder since it is my belief that the onset of life is at birth. Some individuals have argued that life begins at birth when the fetus does not depend on another body for survival hence ceasing pregnancy is not murder. However, I believe that life starts at conception and therefore legalizing abortions is infringing on the constitutional rights of the unborn. The decision to remain alive should be left to God or the individual, but other individuals should not make it. When women make the decision to terminate a pregnancy, they commit murder, and this is a crime that qualifies a perpetrator to be incarcerated. Therefore, abortions should not be legalized as a way of preventing murders by individuals terminating a pregnancy.
Legalizing abortions is likely to contribute to numerous health complications for the women. Research indicates that abortions double the chances of having ectopic pregnancies that contribute to almost an eighth of maternal deaths. Therefore, legalizing abortion will increase the rate of developing an ectopic pregnancy. Abortions do contribute to inflammation of the pelvic hence leading to infertility and fever in women (“Facts and Consequences: Legality, Incidence and Safety of Abortion Worldwide” n.p.). Abortions are also likely to contribute to excessive bleeding if the uterus is injured. Therefore, pregnancy cessation is likely to contribute to the development of medical conditions that affect women physically. Abortions should, therefore, be banned to prevent the likelihood of developing health complications.
Nations should prohibit abortions since most physicians that conduct them fail to raise the alarm about the risks of the procedure. Pregnancy cessation is a risk undertaking since it might cause a woman to die due to excessive bleeding, but most people are not informed about this danger. Further, pregnancy termination is associated with health complications some of which persist for life. Therefore, governments should not legalize pregnancy termination since physicians do not inform women about the risk outcomes related to pregnancy cessation.
Conclusion
In finality, pregnancy termination has its benefits and harm. It is my belief that abortion should be decriminalized since it will benefit the universe more than it will do harm. There are numerous advantages associated with abortion than the dangers hence it should be made legal.
